Safari&Marine Polar Bear Baby Born

● First Birth in Four Years●
On November 21, 2013, a baby polar bear was born at Adventure World for the first time in four years!
Since the mother had not raised the cub in previous births, the decision was made to artificially feed the cub as was done in 2009. We had read past materials on artificial nursing, held numerous meetings with the entire team, and prepared for the birth of the baby with all possible preparations.
On the evening of November 21, the person in charge, who was observing the birth through a monitor, informed us that a polar bear had been born. It was a healthy male baby weighing 726 grams.
When we saw the tiny baby, we felt nervous and wondered if we would be able to raise it properly.
Just when things seemed to be going well,
around 20 days after the baby's birth, when his weight was growing steadily, he suddenly stopped drinking milk. Her stomach was a little distended, and she would not pass stool even after stimulation, so we suspected constipation and administered medication and massaged her lower abdomen. We also repeated trial-and-error measures, such as diluting the concentration of the milk and increasing the frequency of stools. Then the baby gradually recovered. Even though she sometimes fell ill even when we were doing things the same way as before, we had a hard time, but at 40 days of age, her eyes opened and her teeth began to grow, and we were impressed by her slow but steady growth and strength to live.

● She doesn't walk very well...●
So far, she was almost the same as the female born 4 years ago, but after 65 days of age, she showed no signs of walking. Once again, we became concerned. We put toys in the baby's room because we thought she needed to build up her muscles first. We also tried massaging and moving her body, and she gradually gained strength in her legs. However, on the 84th day of his life, he suddenly had a convulsive seizure, and the entire staff was in a panic. At 100 days old, he was finally able to walk. At first, he walked with a limp on his hind legs, but now he is running around energetically. From now on, he will start practicing swimming, and he still has a lot of trials ahead of him. I have always been anxious about this, but now I am confident that she will overcome whatever comes her way. Seven months have passed since he was born, and he now weighs 38 kg. We will continue to watch over this baby's growth without letting up.
