It has been announced that the California sea lion pup born at Adventure World on June 5, 2025, will make its debut in the live attraction "Animal Action" on April 29, 2026!

　This is the first California sea lion pup born at Adventure World in 18 years. At birth, the pup was small, weighing just 5.3 kg, and since it was the mother’s first litter, there was a period when she was unable to nurse. For a few days, staff had to feed the pup formula, but nursing was later confirmed, and the pup grew up healthy, showered with its mother’s deep affection.


　As weaning progressed and he began eating fish, it was time to start training. Thanks to his curious and fearless nature, we were able to begin training him for his live debut at an early stage. However, once the serious training began, it was one challenge after another.
　In the early stages of training, I was so fascinated by the unfamiliar surroundings—my first time away from the pool I was used to—that I couldn’t make it to the starting block smoothly. And because of my naturally fearless personality, even once I was on the starting block, I would sometimes swim freely away from the trainer or stop in the middle of the course.

　In such situations, the trainer would patiently wait until the performer came up to the stage on their own, or try different approaches such as changing the time of day for training or the spot where they appeared, and kept encouraging them to try again and again. Once they were on stage, they practiced getting used to the environment, including the background music and microphone sounds.
そうした、アシカとトレーナーが共に歩んできた成長の過程を経て、この度、その姿を披露することができるまでになりました。


　On the day of their debut, they are scheduled to appear on stage alongside the MC during the climax of the "Animal Action" segment, where they will perform a routine that involves crossing the stage and climbing onto the central platform.
今はまだトレーナーについていく姿が精一杯ですが、今後は親子共演や種特有の身体能力をお伝えするこどもながらにダイナミックな姿をご覧いただけるよう、トレーニングを続けてまいります。
