The California sea lion pup born at Adventure World on June 5, 2015, is now set to make its debut in the live attraction 'Animal Action' on April 29, 2016!

　This California sea lion pup was the first to be born at Adventure World in 18 years! When it was born, it was quite small at 5.3kg, and since its mom was a first-timer, there were times she couldn't nurse. For a few days, our staff even had to give it milk, but after that, we confirmed successful nursing, and the pup grew up healthy, showered with its mother's deep love.


　Once it started weaning and eating fish, training began! Its curious and fearless personality allowed us to start training for its live debut at an early stage. But once serious training kicked off, it was a continuous series of challenges.
　In the early stages of training, it was super curious about the new sights away from its familiar pool, so it couldn't get to the stage smoothly. And because of its naturally fearless personality, even when it got on stage, it would sometimes wander away from its trainer to swim freely in the pool or just stop midway.

　During those times, the trainers patiently waited for it to come up to the stage from the pool on its own. They also tried changing the training times and its entry positions, and kept trying repeatedly. Once it started appearing on stage, we also practiced getting it used to the environment, like the background music and microphone sounds.
そうした、アシカとトレーナーが共に歩んできた成長の過程を経て、この度、その姿を披露することができるまでになりました。


　On its debut day, it's scheduled to appear on stage with the MC during the climax of Animal Action, and perform by walking across the stage and climbing onto the central platform.
今はまだトレーナーについていく姿が精一杯ですが、今後は親子共演や種特有の身体能力をお伝えするこどもながらにダイナミックな姿をご覧いただけるよう、トレーニングを続けてまいります。
