At Adventure World, the Emperor Penguin chick born on September 30, 2025, will celebrate its 100th day on January 8, 2026 (Thursday). To celebrate this milestone in its growth, we're holding a special event called 'Touch, Learn, and Watch Over,' looking back at its journey from birth until today.
　On the day of the event, our animal care staff will give a lecture looking back at the chick's 100 days of growth. We're also planning its 'first-ever' walk in the exercise area! Plus, you can even get a touch experience with the fluffy down feathers unique to chicks that fall out as they grow, and even the eggshell!
　By the way, you can only see its current gray fluffy down feathers until early January, as it's a limited-time sight. As it molts and reaches the 'subadult' stage, it's scheduled to practice swimming in the pool with our animal care staff. Please continue to warmly watch over the chick's growth from now on!

About Emperor Penguins
Classification　: Sphenisciformes, Spheniscidae
Scientific name　: Aptenodytes forsteri
English name　: Emperor Penguin
Habitat: Antarctic continent and its surrounding areas
Lifespan　: Approximately 30 years
Diet　: Fish, squid, krill, etc. At Adventure World, they are mainly fed sand lance and Atka mackerel.
Breeding　: Only two types of penguins breed on the Antarctic continent: the medium-sized Adélie penguin and the Emperor penguin. While Adélie penguins breed in the summer when rocks are exposed after the snow melts, Emperor penguins start breeding on winter ice fields where temperatures can drop to -60 degrees Celsius. They are called 'the world's harshest bird parents' because they raise their chicks during a fast that lasts for about 120 days. They reach sexual maturity at around 5 years old. After laying eggs, females go to sea to find food, while males remaining at the breeding grounds incubate the eggs for about 2 months without eating.
Features　: They are the world's largest penguins, reaching about 120 cm in height and 40 kg in weight. Their distinctive features are the bright yellow on the sides of their heads and upper chest. They are also the only penguins whose chicks have patterns, displaying three colors – white, black, and gray – from birth until their first molt. Adults look very similar to King penguins, but King penguins are smaller, about 90 cm tall, and can be distinguished by the orange color on their upper chest.

誕生４５周年を迎えた世界で一番有名なペンギン「ピングー」とコラボレーションし、２０２５年１０月２日（木）～２０２６年２月２８日（土）の期間
「PINGU™ʼs SMILE PARTY in ADVENTURE WORLD」を開催中です。
アドベンチャーワールドは、国内最多となる８種約５００羽のペンギンが暮らしており、世界的にも希少なエンペラーペンギンの繁殖に成功している日本有数のペンギン飼育施設です。今回、ピングーとアドベンチャーワールドの初めてのコラボレーションにより、これまでにない特別な企画が誕生しました。

開催場所：アドベンチャーワールド内センタードーム、海獣館　他
