Two Near Threatened Owls Confirmed Fledging in the Wild Adventure World's "Adopt-a-Forest Initiative" Achieves Biodiversity Restoration Nest Box Workshop Held at the 4th Bamboo Festival on Saturday, December 6

2025年12月02日(火)

At the site of the "Adopt-a-Forest Initiative" in which Adventure World participates, two owls designated as "Near Threatened" on the Osaka Prefecture Red List were confirmed to have fledged naturally in June 2025. This successful natural reproduction of owls demonstrates that forest regeneration through the management of abandoned bamboo forests contributes to the recovery of biodiversity.
To carry this initiative forward into the future, Adventure World will further promote participatory forest creation alongside the community. This will be done through owl nest box workshops, breeding environment improvements, and an exhibition introducing the Adopt Forest Activity at the "4th Bamboo Festival" (hosted by the Yumemigaoka Kishiwada Town Development Council) on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

〈Owl Breeding Habitat Improvement Activities〉
Through the Adopt-a-Forest initiative in Kishiwada City's hilly areas, we are creating forests where diverse wildlife can thrive by clearing sections of abandoned bamboo groves and transitioning them into deciduous woodlands. This bamboo forest management also contributes to securing breeding habitats for owls, designated as Near Threatened species in Osaka Prefecture. Since Adventure World began these activities, confirmed results include owl breeding and maintaining ecosystem diversity, such as two owls fledging naturally in June 2025.

The Adopt-a-Forest Program is an Osaka Prefecture initiative that acts as an intermediary between businesses and forest owners to facilitate forest creation activities. Its purpose is to convert neglected plantations, bamboo forests, and other degraded forests into broadleaf forests through the participation of businesses and other entities, thereby contributing to global warming prevention and the preservation of biodiversity.
