Today (September 20) was the International Red Panda Day☆ event!

Today (September 20) is International Red Panda Day.
The third Saturday of every September is designated as "International Red Panda Day," a day to let many people know about the current situation facing red pandas in the wild and to think about the conservation of the critically endangered red panda.

The park held an event!
First, we presented the red pandas with a cake made of apples and ice, their favorite food.
Although they were nervous about their first ice cake, they ate their favorite apples and bamboo grass with relish.

In addition to the red panda breeding staff, giant panda breeding staff also appeared as edutainers! Guests were invited to participate in a quiz format to compare the two and talk about the wild environment and ecology of the red panda.

The red panda is more endangered than the giant panda, although there are many red pandas bred in Japan and they are very familiar to us.
We hope that today's exhibition will encourage you to think about the conservation of the red panda.
