About SDGs Partnership Agreement
Since 2011, we have been cooperating with Kishiwada City in Osaka Prefecture by signing an "Agreement on the Provision of Bamboo in the Kishiwada Hills Area" to use bamboo from Kishiwada City as food for giant pandas and also to preserve the environment of satoyama. The agreement was renewed in October. In October 2020, we renewed our SDG partnership agreement to cooperate in the conservation of biodiversity, the creation of a recycling-oriented society, the development of livable communities, and SDGs awareness-raising activities.

About the "Creating the Future with Pandas Project"
The bamboo used for the giant pandas' diet is procured from the bamboo groves in Kishiwada City. Kishiwada City prevents the overgrowth of bamboo from negatively impacting the environment of the animals and plants living in the satoyama by cutting it out for the pandas to eat. However, since pandas eat the leafy parts of the bamboo, the bamboo trunks are left behind. This project will utilize the bamboo trunks and turn them into laminated wood to be reborn as handicrafts, thereby promoting resource recycling.

About Panda Bamboo Project
This project aims to protect the satoyama environment by cutting down bamboos that are destroying the satoyama and using them as food for giant pandas, and to promote upcycling of bamboo trunks, uneaten bamboo, and feces that giant pandas do not eat, which have been disposed of so far, as effective resources. This is a project to promote upcycling of bamboo trunks, uneaten bamboo, and dung, which were previously discarded.
