Adventure World (Shirahama-cho, Wakayama Prefecture), as part of the Panda Bamboo Project, will donate some of the bamboo trunks left over by giant pandas to the first Tanabata event "Tanabata Meets Bamboo Light" organized by SHIRAHAMA KEY TERRACE HOTEL SEAMORE (hereinafter called Hotel Seamore). The bamboo trunks left uneaten by the giant pandas will be provided.
　In the future, regular events such as bamboo lighting workshops and seasonal events hosted by Hotel Seymour will be planned using the bamboo trunks and other materials left uneaten by the giant pandas.
　Tanabata Meets Bamboo Lighting" will be held in various areas of the hotel, from the entrance to the infinity footbath, using "bamboo lights," which are lights created by drilling holes in bamboo. Guests and visitors alike will be able to view the lighting. During the event, limited-edition products will be on sale, and a Tanabata-related campaign will also be held.

【パンダバンブープロジェクトについて】
里山を荒廃させる竹を伐採し、ジャイアントパンダの食事として活用することで里山の環境を守り、これまで廃棄していたジャイアントパンダが食べない竹の幹の部分や食べ残した竹、糞を有効資源としてアップサイクルを推進するプロジェクトです。

The relationship between "Bamboo Light" and Adventure World]
Since August 2019, as "Connecting Smile Bamboo Light", bamboo lights have been produced using bamboo trunks left over by giant pandas, installed and lit in the park for guests to see. The bamboo used for the giant pandas' meals is procured from the bamboo grove in Kishiwada City, Osaka Prefecture. In Kishiwada City, the overgrowth of bamboo is deteriorating the environment for the animals and plants living in the satoyama, so the city has been cutting down the overgrown bamboo for the pandas' food, thereby preventing its destruction.
However, the giant pandas eat the leafy parts of the bamboo, so the "bamboo trunks" remain. We have started the "Bamboo Light" project as one way to utilize these bamboo trunks. Currently, we are exploring the possibility of using the bamboo trunks in the future as "bamboo compost," "bamboo powder," and "handicrafts," and are working on a "recycling-oriented park" project.
