Kokoro ni Smile Mirai Souzou Park Adelie penguins and baby bearded penguins were born!

Tuesday, December 17, 2019

Adélie penguin and bearded penguin babies were born at Adventure World (Shirahama-cho, Wakayama Prefecture). Eight Adelie penguins were born between November 26 (Tuesday) and December 17 (Tuesday), and seven bearded penguins were born between November 30 (Saturday) and December 15 (Sunday). Both babies are growing well, and we have confirmed that the parents are feeding their babies. The baby is now on display on the second floor of the Marine Animals Building. This is the rare season when you can see seven kinds of baby penguins at the same time!

Adventure World Penguin Project]
Adventure World began breeding Humboldt penguins and northern penguins when the park opened in 1978, and in 1990 began a full-scale breeding and breeding research project called the "Penguin Project" to reproduce a penguin colony (breeding group) living in the wild. Since 1990, we have been focusing on breeding and reproduction research as the "Penguin Project" to reproduce a penguin colony (breeding group) living in the wild. We have bred Adelie penguins, bearded penguins, gentoo penguins, and king penguins, and in 1997, we started breeding research on Emperor penguins, the largest penguins in the world.
Since the first successful breeding of Adelie penguins in 1996 and bearded penguins in 1999, we have been working on breeding every year and many babies have been born.
