Listen to the sounds of animals

The veterinarians at Adventure World examine the animals by listening to their sounds
for any abnormalities in their health. This is called "auscultation.
When you go to a hospital when you are not feeling well, the doctor listens to you with a stethoscope.
The same is true for animals.
When animals are not feeling well, we check for noises in the heartbeat and lungs during breathing. If there is a murmur, we suspect heart or lung disease and consider treatment.
In addition, our equines may suffer from colic (severe abdominal pain), which may cause them to stop walking or standing. In this case, a stethoscope is placed over the abdomen to listen for normal movement of the internal organs. If no sound is heard, colic is most likely present and should be treated immediately.

Now, for a limited time during the summer, we are holding the "Let's get to know each other" event, where you can experience the work of a veterinarian! Let's try it! Wild Animal Medical Center," where guests can actually experience the work of a veterinarian by auscultating rabbits and guinea pigs (the content of the experience changes daily, including blood sampling using stuffed animals and anesthesia blowguns). (The content of the experience changes daily, including blood collection using stuffed animals and a blowgun for anesthesia.)

Guests will be able to feel the difference between their own heartbeats and those of animals such as rabbits, in terms of loudness and speed. We hope that this event will lead to new discoveries for everyone and encourage them to think about their own bodies and health as well as those of the animals around them.
