As "Panda town," Adventure World is working
- Around 3.4 million tourists visit Shirahama each year (this number fell to around 2.4 million in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic), and according to Nanki Shirahama in Tourism Data,* when asked the question of what tourists know about Shirahama and what they believe the most popular location is, the top answer was about Adventure World's panda family. The park is well recognized among other tourist attractions of Shirahama, including hot springs which have flowed for 1,350 years and the wonderful fresh seafood and other cuisine. Today the pandas play a great role in regional revitalization efforts, with bamboo lights made of the kind of bamboo the pandas feast on, local hotels’ "panda rooms" adopting cute panda designs in their interior, and joint projects with JR West and Meiko Bus to decorate vehicles in wrap advertising featuring panda.
