HAPPY PANDA FES

From fall to winter,
the pandas celebrate a very special season.

The birthdays of four members of our panda family all fall between August and November. In celebration of this special season we host the HAPPY PANDA FES, felicitating the pandas on their birthdays and holding various participatory and hands-on events on food and art as well as workshops both at the park and online.

Events held in 2021

  • Saihin's Birthday Party

On her birthday on August 14 in a recent year Saihin was given shredded ice colored like a rainbow, because the first kanji character of her name means color, as well as ice pieces representing her age. Showing her play around in the backyard, we also took a look back over the years since her birth.

  • Rauhin's Birthday Party

September 6 is mother panda Rauhin's birthday. On that day she was given an ice cake, and we looked back on how she and our staff worked together to raise her offspring and make her as skillful as she is today.

  • Eimei's Birthday Party

September 14 is father panda Eimei's birthday. A panda with a refined palate, he was given various types of bamboo food and ice pieces. We took a look back on the years since he first arrived at the park.

  • Yuihin's Birthday Party

September 18 is Yuihin's birthday. Our staff gave the ever-curious Yuihin an assortment of lovingly selected toys and ice pieces as presents. We also showed wonderful pictures of Yuihin sent to our official social media account.

  • Fuhin's Birthday Party

November 22 is Fuhin's birthday. She was given special wooden blocks and an ice piece in the shape of a maple leaf, after the first kanji character of her name. This year’s (2021) was Fuhin's first birthday party, and many sent celebratory messages on our official social media account.

  • Ouhin and Touhin's Birthday Party

December 2 is the birthday of the panda twins Ouhin and Touhin. They were gifted cherry and peach trees drawn with ice and snow, based on the first kanji characters in each of their names. In celebration of this special duo, we also shared photos of the two in synchronized postures sent by park visitors to our official social media account.

  • Watch the Moon with Pandas on Moon-viewing Night

A special after-hours event to relax in the autumn sunset while admiring the giant pandas. This event was specially held for guests staying at our partner hotels in the Nanki Shirahama area.

  • Panda Costume Event—Be-a-Panda Festival

For the Halloween season, we offered panda painting on the face and masks, to let guests transform themselves into pandas for extra fun. With our visitors joining in, the park was transformed into a panda-filled world.

  • Art Competition—Panda Art Festival Contest

We collected art which would make viewers fall more and more in love with our pandas, under the theme of #pandaobsessed. In the end we had a large collection of wonderful, unique works of art featuring pandas.

The top award winner in the Panda Art Festival Contest 2021 was Yana-chan for their work "Kimi ni Kugizuke (Can’t Take My Eyes Off You)."

  • Pandas in Music—Panda Music Festival

Many musicians, including the artists who provide Adventure World's original songs, came together to celebrate pandas through music.

  • Panda Festival Menus at Harvest Festival

As part of a food-centric celebration, our park restaurants offered limited-time festival menus, while local restaurants and high schools set up shops to sell special panda-themed food made with local ingredients, thus visitors and local communities together enjoyed this festival with us.
