We believe educational outreach programs are a key function of zoos.
Our events and tours at Adventure World work
to bring pandas closer to our daily lives.

- We want the world to understand pandas on a more personal level, which is why at Adventure World we started the "Panda Classroom" in 2000, offering lectures with many photos and documents. In 2002, we launched the "Panda Backyard Tour" (known as the "Panda Love Tour" from 2013 on) in order to teach the history and current state of our pandas. This tour has grown into one of our most popular, as it offers a much more up-close look at the pandas than an ordinary visit. Many participants enjoyed feeling more familiar with pandas, leaving comments of how adorable the pandas were, and how enjoyable it was to take pictures of them at such a close distance. Then, in 2015, we started the "Tell Me More! Panda School." It has adopted worksheets to explain the panda's way of life, offer tours of the facilities, and provide a workshop to dissect panda feces, all in an attempt to teach in-depth about how the animals live and what their situation in the wild is like. The contents of this event change each season, and many guests make return visits. A growing number of participants tell us they have learned more about panda lifestyles, including why they eat bamboo and why it is so hard to raise panda cubs. Some elementary school students even sent us their research booklets they created for their independent research projects over summer break.

- New Online Educational Programs
- As in-person events grew more difficult due to the COVID-19 pandemic from 2020 onward, we have begun actively offering online educational programs. Available from outside the park, the program has enabled many who could not make the trip to participate in interesting new experiences. Making the most of the remote situation, we offered events that included talks with researchers and photographers from around the world, as well as the Japanese staff at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding.
