Initiatives in the Park

We believe that educational outreach is one of the important roles of zoos.
Adventure World has been holding events and tours to bring pandas
closer to the public.

  • To learn more about pandas and to feel closer to them. In 2000, Adventure World started the "Panda Classroom," a lecture using photos and documents, and since 2002, we have been conducting the "Panda Backyard Tour" (renamed the "Panda Love Tour" in 2013) to learn about the history, current status, and ecology of pandas. The tour is a more up-close-and-personal experience than regular tours. This tour has become very popular, as it allows visitors to see pandas up close compared to regular tours. In 2015, we started the "I want to know more about pandas! Panda School" was held in 2015. Using worksheets, the content was designed to provide more in-depth information on panda ecology and their current status in the wild, including explanations of panda ecology, facility tours, and hands-on dismantling of feces. Many guests continue to participate in the tour because the content varies depending on the season, and more and more guests commented on their understanding of the ecology, such as "I now understand why pandas continue to eat bamboo" and "I now understand how hard it is to raise a cub. Some elementary school students even made a research booklet and sent it to us as their free research for the summer vacation.

Started online educational activities
Since the Corona Disaster from 2020 has made it difficult to hold real events, we have been actively conducting educational activities online. Guests are now able to participate in events from outside the Park, providing an extraordinary experience for guests who are unable to visit the Park. Taking advantage of online delivery, we also held a dialogue event with domestic and international researchers, photographers, and Japanese staff of the Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding and Research Base.
