Four giant pandas, 'Rauhin,' 'Yuihin,' 'Saihin,' and 'Fuhin,' will soon return to Chengdu, China.
We're excited to announce that four giant pandas living at Adventure World will be returning to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in Sichuan Province, China, around the end of June 2025.
We'll share the exact schedule once it's officially decided!
1. Giant Pandas Returning Home

2. Background of Their Return
The contract for the ongoing Giant Panda Conservation Cooperation Project between Japan and China will expire in August this year. After discussions between both sides, it was decided that the four giant pandas – Rauhin, Yuihin, Saihin, and Fuhin – will return to China in June, when the weather is cooler, to ensure a comfortable journey for them.
Rauhin, our 24-year-old mother panda, is getting older. Experts from the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding suggested it would be best for her to live peacefully in a relaxed environment in China, where they have great facilities and medical care for senior pandas. So, she's heading back home!
As for her kids, 8-year-old Yuihin, 6-year-old Saihin, and 4-year-old Fuhin, they'll be returning to China to find partners and help with future breeding programs.
We're sending all four pandas off with lots of love and hope that they'll live healthy, happy lives and each play a part in continuing the panda family!
3. About Quarantine
Before the four pandas depart, they'll go through isolation quarantine.
This quarantine is expected to last about one month before their departure, and during this time, they'll be viewable through glass.
We'll announce more details about their public viewing as soon as they're decided!
4. What's Next
Thank you so much for supporting the Giant Panda Conservation Cooperation Project for the past 30 years!
We truly hope that all the giant pandas born in Shirahama, including Rauhin, Yuihin, Saihin, and Fuhin, will live happy lives in China and that the circle of giant pandas will continue to grow.
Our Giant Panda Conservation Cooperation Project, which started at our park in 1994, reached a huge milestone of 30 years last September.
We strongly wish for this joint project to continue, and we'll keep discussing with China to make it happen and contribute even more to giant panda conservation.
5. Profiles of the Giant Pandas Returning Home
⚫️Rauhin
Born: September 6, 2000 (24 years old)
Birthplace: Adventure World
Gender: Female
Rauhin was the first giant panda born at Adventure World! When she was little, she was super playful and loved playing with tires and balls in the exercise yard. She grew up to be a wonderful mother, raising many cubs and becoming just as good at parenting as her own mother, Meimei!
◾️Yuihin
Date of Birth: September 18, 2016 (8 years old)
Place of Birth: Adventure World
Gender: Female
Weighing 197g at birth, she was the biggest baby panda born at the park. Her name, Yuihin, carries the wish that she will connect precious things inherited from the "past" to the next generation, along with the global panda family. It also expresses the hope that she will "tie together" all diverse values, cultures, languages, and species to create a "future" filled with sustainable smiles. Her charming point is the pointy top of her head. This feature became noticeable around 4 months old, when she started walking on her own.
◾️Saihin
Date of Birth: August 14, 2018 (6 years old)
Place of Birth: Adventure World
Gender: Female
Born at a tiny 75g, she was the smallest panda cub ever born at the park. Her small body, receiving love from her mother Rauhin, and her determined spirit to live, brought courage and hope to many. Her name, Saihin, expresses the wish that she will continue to add color to everyday life and become a presence that creates a future filled with bright, positive smiles (happiness). She has grown up healthy and strong without any major illnesses or injuries, and continues to show her lively self.
⚫️Fuhin
Date of Birth: November 22, 2020 (4 years old)
Birthplace: Adventure World
Gender: Female
Her birth right in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic brought bright hope and comfort to so many people! Her name, Fuhin, carries the wish that she will grow up to be loved and warmly watched over by many, just like a maple tree that changes colors beautifully in autumn. She was super active right after she was born, so energetic that she almost rolled off her mother's belly!
