Among land animals, they are second only to elephants and rhinoceroses in size. They live mainly in water, and since their eyes, ears, and nose are attached to the upper part of their face, they can see what is going on around them by slightly extending them out of the water. On land, they can run at speeds of up to 40 km/h.
